Boy of boy was Monday evening uncomfortable. It was a growing day for sure! All evening my stomach was stretched to the max and all I wanted to do was lay down. Thankfully Tuesday and ever since has not been like that but boy it is interesting when a day like that comes along. And just to top it off, I get to work on Tuesday am greeted with, "oh boy, you've popped" and "that happened over night!" comments. Fun to hear but also slightly uncomfortable. I guess I would say I'm one of those anomalies who love the outcome of the baby but I'm not a huge fan of being pregnant. Not because it's a horrible experience but I always feel like it just DOMINATES everything about me for the duration. I'm not me anymore I'm the pregnant lady or conversations always start with asking how I'm feeling...that would not be what happens if I wasn't growing a child inside of me. Again, I realize everyone is being curious and excited and supportive but I so enjoy being at work and feeling like I'm an equal and a professional my life and decisions aren't centered around this wee one inside me.
Boy this post sure turned on me...I just wanted to document the growing day. Anyways, baby has been "beating me up" from the inside lately and I love the reminders that (s)he is in there. I feel bonded to this baby already and I really can't wait to meet "it" on the outside. Yes, yes, I know, don't rush it I will miss the pregnant part...but honestly I don't know that I ever had that feeling with Killian. I was just so in love with him and being able to kiss him and hold him and love on him that I didn't ever look back. I mourned out separation but I feel like that was more my hormones adjusting to the change rather than me missing him being in me. To me this pregnancy process is a means to the end and I'll get through it to meet my little one. I honestly can't say I won't do it again, my favorite parts have all been since Killian was born and being pregnant made that happen but boy, I sure do love being able to tie my shoes normally and have zippers to check when I leave the restroom and feeling comfortable in my favorite yoga pants and chasing my toddler down the slide without having to catch my breath. So many things that I miss as I enter into this stage of my pregnancy that I know I'll get back but it feels so far away.
Enough of my sob story, I'm off to get my first born from school and hang out for the evening. He was in such a fantastic mood this morning, he is just my absolute favorite. LOVE LOVE LOVE him to pieces.
Just a little bit of everything on this blog, vacations, weddings, home remodeling/purchasing, visitors, babies, etc. See what I mean...just a bunch of stuff. Hope you enjoy

Update
Fun things first...I haven't posted a bump picture in a while, 3 weeks to catch up on.
So what's new with baby...well I haven't been back to the Dr. since my last updates so unfortunately I'm slipping into the "hope everything is still ok" phase. Thankfully little baby is starting to be strong enough that I can feel the movement through my "pillow placenta," that is reassuring when we have a dance party. This baby has decided that one way (s)he will show me they are still there is to kick my bladder...not something little mister Killian was interested in doing, so that's a new and not so welcomed symptom.
We go back to the Dr. a week from today, should be pretty routine. I believe we will schedule my diabetes screening then and get that out of the way. Wondering if Dr. will want any additional ultrasounds because of my "advanced" age, that one I don't mind at all, I would love to see baby again (sooner rather than later, thank you very much).
In the meantime, Kyle's been steadily working away at getting the room painted and ready for re-installment of baseboards. Hopefully that will happen this weekend, that way I can order the furniture and get things lined out. I found the perfect window curtain panels last week and just got the curtain rod yesterday so those will go up once the baseboards are finished. I also have a new overhead light picked out and ready to order when the time is right. Looking forward to having the furniture ordered and assembled so I can see how the room will layout with everything in it. Then I can get down to the nitty gritty of filling up drawers and stocking diapers, etc. If anyone is interested, I've been slowly adding things to the registry, not too much on there just yet because I need to go through and take stock on what we still have and still need. Either way, here's the link if you want it :-)

Other happenings around our parts...found out we are going to be Aunty/Uncle/Cousins to a baby boy at the end of August. That was a fun reveal, always entertaining to try and engage the kids in these type activities, they have their own agenda and don't always play nice with the "plan."
Killian is growing up so fast, it makes my heart sing and cry all at once! I'll post another blog with photos from his birthday party, which was a huge success by the way, no rain can slow this party crew down!!!
Killian is working through his 2's very nicely, he is testing us and is full, and I mean FULL, of energy but he is a good boy and listens to his mom and dad and is very well mannered. He has all but one of his 2 year molars, it is waiting to break through and then we will be DONE with teeth!!! All in all he has been fantastic with teething, we hardly notice so can not really complain.
At his 2 year checkup the Dr. predicted he would be 6'2" as a man...whoa that's weird to say! Nice strong height, I love it! He is just above average on his weight and a slightly larger than normal head. All in all she was thoroughly impressed with our little dude and thought he was very advanced in his physical development. She recommended we visit the library and pickup some big brother books to help him get ready for the new addition. School has been taking him into the baby room now and then to help prepare him too, they say he does great in there and is very helpful.
Killian and I started swim lessons again this week, he just loves the water and I can't wait to get him down to my parents house and get some time in Cassie's pool. We are all in need of a little sunshine these days...one of the wettest springs in Portland's history, lucky us! I think we are being tested, if we can survive this year we are good to go.
Overall life is good and I'm just loving my little family. Our house is just great and I fall in love with it more everyday. I look forward to all that we experience in it and welcome visitors to help us enjoy it further.
Until next time, enjoy the pictures below of big bro to be Killian.

Baby Movements - Almost 21 weeks
Not only do I feel like a bottomless pit today but baby is moving like crazy, still very soft kicks but becoming much more noticeable each day. Fun to start feeling things going on down there. All for now but thought I would make note for timing.
Baby was laying sideways when we had the ultrasound, head on my left and feet to the right, silly kiddo!

Giving in!
I held out as long as I could...baby seems to be much higher in the bump this time around so my regular pants could stick around much longer than I anticipated. I tried last week to make it through the evening with my regular jeans on but just couldn't do it...thankfully I have a couple pairs of pants that don't have the full panel type band, they have the thick elastic that sits under the bump to help hold up the pants during this between time.
Today I'm enjoying some nice leggings but still feels weird to have no support at the hips. This time around I'm employing a lot more of my dress selection while I still can but need to invest in a nice pair or two of maternity tights. Still a little too cold and my legs are too pale to not wear some sort of tight/nylons to work.
So, in closing to mark the event for looking back on some day, I have official given into maternity clothes, not bad for baby number 2 to make it to the half way mark :-) I will continue to slowly filter out my tops as they no longer tip like they are suppose to and filter in the "moo moo" maternity ones as required. I look forward to the weather warming up and wearing my shorts on the weekends.
Just for fun, here is a cute picture from this morning with my morning snuggle buddy :-)

Little More Info
Thought I should jot down some info from yesterday's appointment while I'm thinking of it and since I've really benefited from being able to look back on Killian's journey should do the same this time.
Baby's heart rate was 152 bpm and the placenta is attached to the front of my uterus explaining my the baby party doesn't feel as full swing as others. Otherwise baby looks great and is right on track with where we should be. I'll go back to the Dr. in 4 weeks, May 1. After that we'll do the diabetes test and some other blood work at my 28 week appointment. Crazy to think it is already time to start talking about that.
Seems that Dr. is on board with scheduling our c-section for August 14th, the Monday before due date. That will give our little family of 3 one last weekend to hang out, go to soccer practice and swim lessons before life as we know it gets adjusted again. My mom is planning to come that Thursday night before so we can do a day of drop off at school together so Monday when Mommy or Daddy don't do drop off it won't be too much of a weird thing to have Ooma there.
I started looking into photographers to do a maternity and newborn session with us. There are soooo many options and such a HUGE range in prices. I think I've got it narrowed down to two options but I'm running it by Bree to see what her thoughts are on their styles, she did our pictures with Killian and we absolutely loved them. Nice to have a professional opinion too. The two I like are between these two:

And just like that....
We are half way through this pregnancy! WOW that sure went fast!
We had our anatomy ultrasound today and everything is looking fantastic, right where (s)he should be. We successfully did not find out the baby's gender and are still planning to keep it that way until August. I'm feeling great and am loving the sunshine that has poked it's face out here in PDX the last few days, so much so that I planted a little garden this weekend and and fiercely working on getting our yard pulled together for the outdoor months.
Name game is in full effect and I'm loving it! Think it could be my "Jiminy Cricket" giving me a sign about the gender as my girl name list is like 3 times longer than the boys. Last time it was pretty dead even. Who knows...time will tell ;-)
Here are a few pictures of new baby's progress and a little comparison of my bump this time around compared to Killian.
