Movement and Zippers

First, I'll start with the pictures :-)  Bump at 17 weeks...it is definitely there, no denying but I still feel like I'm not forced into maternity clothes, a lot of my clothes still fit just fine, so I'm not giving in completely.

Killian shots of course.  Boy oh boy, is he working on his toddler attitude.  Sure does have an opinion about the strangest things.  I told Kyle this morning that it sounded like a cat fight in his crib, he was in there for a couple minutes to cool off, just worked himself into a little tizzy.  Kyle's parents are in town and staying with us for a few more days.  Thankfully the sun came out on Sunday so we were able to go to the park several times and get a little energy out.  Killian commandeered the stride bike from Uncle Aaron's household and was getting quite good at it, he wouldn't let me help stabilize him after a couple times, such a big boy!

daylight savings is rough on a toddler (and pregnant mommy too for that matter)
Stride bike fun with cousin Maya, she was helping give him lessons
Uncle Aaron and Maya came over for a pizza party, Killian and Maya say cheese!
Bundling up earlier in the week to play outside, at least it wasn't raining
Killian getting to know his new beta fish Seaweed
Dog Pile on Killian!!!

Sun's out = Soccer in the Park time!
In other news, definitely felt new baby kick this morning at work.  Hopefully that keeps up and I get little hellos now and again.  I can't wait until our 20 week appointment when we will get to see the little bugger again.  Started trying to nail down paint color for the nursery this weekend, think I've landed on Creme Fraiche a very light yellow.  Now the fun can start and we can get to painting.  Think I'm going to get light grey furniture for the room that can hopefully be used in all stages of baby's life.

I did have to put on some maternity jeans this weekend but that was because my regular jeans were in the wash.  Still in that awkward phase that the maternity ones feel like they are constantly falling down due to the lack of the waste band but the normal ones are just a bit too tight.  Thank goodness for stretch pants and dresses :-)

Ok, lunch break over.  Until next update.  Happy Monday everyone.

16 week - PHEW

I went to the doctor this morning, got to hear baby's heartbeat (150 bpm).  Dr. was very please.  She was surprised I am still in my regular clothes but I don't feel like i need to change yet, I still fit them very comfortably.  I look forward to wearing all the new/reintroduced clothes but there will be plenty of time for that.

I look forward to starting getting the little nursery nook going, I can't wait to see how the Wizard of Oz theme comes together.

I feel fantastic and my mind has been eased hearing that little heartbeat this morning.  Can't wait to meet you little baby, it will be hear before I know it.  Until then I will enjoy this period where I'm feeling great and not uncomfortable and itching for my body space yet.

So many fun things coming up to celebrate not only this baby but little mister Killian.  CAN NOT believe he is going to be 2 in one month, where did my baby go and I am enjoying his little boyhood a lot.  He is be bestest little buddy and we have so much fun together.  Starting to plan his birthday party which he will share with his best buddy Lewis, Lewis was born 2 days before Killian and Lewis' new baby brother/sister is due 3 days after Killian.

Killian loves fishies right now, he could watch Finding Dory and Nemo all day long.  I found him a beta fish this weekend and we set it up in his room.  He is a red beta and we named him Seaweed.  Killian ran into his room this morning after breakfast and was in shock again that there was a fish in his room.  The wonder in his face was amazing.

Two years ago we were all getting together celebrating Killian with a fantastic amazing baby shower.  I still can not believe how many fantastic ladies, both friends and family, participated in welcoming Killian into our family.  I miss our friends but am just amazed about the community and friends we've already started cultivating here in the PNW.  Couldn't do it without you all.

About now...

Now is the time between visits that I start worrying that things aren't going well...I haven't been to the doctor in several weeks and haven't felt baby move yet.  Granted my bump is growing but the mind is a dangerous place and the worst always jumps to my forethought.  I have to wait until one more week for confirmation that things are going well or not, whatever the case may be.  I look forward to the point when appointments get closer together so I can breath easier and know things are going well.

Also, not sure I announced on the blog yet, but we are definitely going to wait to find out baby's gender until the birthday.  I just couldn't find a reason to change what I always saw for me and finding out didn't really seem to make that much difference in my preparation.  Now if we get another boy and we end up going for a 3rd, that may change my tone on finding out but as of now, the surprise continues.

Send good thoughts my way and patients to hang in there for another week.

Thanks everyone :-)

15 week picture

Another fun trip with my mom, what a fantastic time we had and delicious food we got to enjoy. Did some good working/training too, always a educational conference.

We walked and walked and walked. Tired
feet but full soul or should I say sole, hehe.

Baby is doing great from what I can tell. Will be so nice to go back to Dr and get an official update.

YES!

The blog is working!  I'm going back and looking at what I wrote the first time around and boy is it fun and a great reminder of what I was going through...just last night I went "man, my abs are sore, I didn't think my workout on Tuesday was that ab intense"  Turns out this week back in 2014 I was feeling the same thing, who would have thought!

Here's a cute picture of the monkey man for a little fun :-)

Well Well Well...

How has it been almost a year since I've last updated the blog, my goodness!  So many things I've missed, including but not limited to Killian's first birthday party, selling our San Jose House and moving to Portland, both of us starting new jobs, multiple haircuts for Killian, a couple trips to California...can you see where I'm going with this?  I've failed to update you all on a lot of happenings, sorry about that.

Ok, apologies out of the way...I'll try to come back and fill in some blanks of the BIG stuff.  But for now, the biggest news is we are adding to our family's craziness, a new addition is "cooking" currently and is scheduled for arrival August 18th.  That's right, Killian is going to be a big brother.

Couple answers to reoccurring questions, right off the bat:

  • I'm feeling great!  Just like my pregnancy with Killian, I wouldn't know I'm pregnant if I wasn't going to the doctor and the occasional extra tiredness in the evenings.
  • We (really I, Kyle is leaving the decision up to me this time around) haven't decided if we are going to find out the gender.  My doctor has the information in her hands because I did the over 35 genetic testing, but I can't make up my mind if I was to find out or not...right now I'm leaning toward getting the information in an envelope and keeping it until I know one way or the other.
  • We have told Killian and he is starting to remember that there is a baby in Mommy's tummy but I'm pretty sure he won't grasp what that really means until baby is here.
  • Do I want a girl or boy? Yes and yes...pros and cons of both in my mind and that's the hardest part right now for me with finding out vs. not.  I'll get there on my decision, just probably take me a little while.
Other information...I'm staying as active as I can, I try to do yoga once a week and regularly participate in interval training here at work.  My leftover pregnancy bump is starting to transform into a real bump now and it won't be long until I have to say adios to my zippers once again.  I'm looking forward to feeling the baby move so I know things are happening and progress is being made.  My next doctor's appointment is 3/6...should be relatively routine without a whole lot of excitement involved besides the reassurance that things are going well and we are both healthy.

I have started taking my weekly bump pictures.  I started the same week I did with Killian so I could compare.  This time around I went with a little different approach, something a little more artistic and less "hot mess mama" pictures ;-)

What else....trying to figure out maternity leave and daycare options for Killian while I'm at home.  Hoping to send him a few days a week so I can get some one on one bonding time with new baby but also have some time with him at home to do the SAHM stuff with him during the days.

Our new house is setup perfectly for a nursery upstairs with us, the dormer area is a little nook room off of ours, making it the perfect little cozy spot for a baby.  Close at hand but also separate so mommy and daddy can catch some zzzzz.  Pretty sure we are settled on a Wizard of Oz inspired room for this one...a few pieces we will be able to reuse from big brother's nursery but also keep it different enough to feel special.

Names...oh names....my favorite part!  Let the games begin, I think it is hilarious what Kyle comes up with and what he dislikes of my suggestions.  Such a fun back and forth.  It wasn't until we were sitting in the lobby waiting for Killian's appointment did we settle on his name (and a girl option).

As a PS - one of the weirdest side effects this time around has been the darn stuffed up nose and dry cough all during my first trimester.  Thankfully that is receding and I'm feeling better...my poor co-workers had to listen to me for 3 months with no explanation. Oh yeah and I've been on an orange juice kick...L.O.V.E. love it!!!

Ok, I suppose that is enough baby dump for the time being.  Here are some pictures and I'll update as more happens.
